You will be part of a NN Platform team at Customer and Commerce (C&C). You are going to work with technologies and tools like Node.js, React-Native, Typescript, AWS, serverless, GraphQL, Splunk, Azure DevOps CI/CD and more specific vendor applications and SaaS services. You are eager to learn new things and you share your knowledge enthusiastically with your colleagues. You are curious and you value feedback, for yourself and others, because you understand feedback helps all of us grow. You will participate in the Engineering guild of NN, and be well connected to the engineering structure at C&C and the larger NN.

Your impact as Engineer DevOps and SRE practices

Our teams are responsible to build and run the NN APP, portal services, CMS, Chatbot, API platforms, backend IAM services etc.  The platform teams enable product teams to deliver their features to the end customers and provide a smooth developer experience, release management, configuration management, incident management, pipeline automation, test framework, etc.  All dedicated to make it as easy as possible for product teams to create and run a feature. Product teams will be depending on your expertise and insights for technical guidance. The NN APP, portals and services give customers an overview of their financial products and the possibility to interact with them making them a crucial part of the NN landscape and offering.

About the Team

Your team is part of the Business Unit Customer & Commerce (C&C) within NN. C&C connects the Business Units of Nationale-Nederlanden with our joint customer.

This means we take care of all generic systems, platforms, capabilities and service desks that are used within NN to service our customer. As an example you can think of the digital client portals, the app, the chatbot-technology which is being further developed and used and the expertise like Research, UX Design and Data Science within the whole company. With this we realize the digital, personal and relevant service offering towards our customers.

What you will do

You deliver the best results based on your own initiative and ambition:

  • Give advice and direction on the complete DevOps lifecycle from infra, building, monitoring and operating a product.
  • Create, improve and maintain CI/CD pipelines.
  • Improve the existing monitoring capabilities and improve Incident management follow up.
  • Act as a DevOps and Site Reliability Engineering advocate inside and outside the team.
  • Improve maturity of provided platform services in order to enable the Product teams to become more efficient on them.

Who you are

A DevOps Engineer able to work comfortably on any aspects of the devops lifecycle. You preferably can develop high quality infra code and have high quality engineering standards. Your curiosity ensures you actively acquire new skills, new methods and processes to make our customers even happier. You have a passion for technology, continuous improvement and learning. Furthermore, you have:

  • At least 5 years of working experience in cloud engineering.
  • Experience with containers and container orchestration (Docker/Kubernetes/ECS/Fargate).
  • Knowledge of DevOps lifecycle from infra, to building, to monitoring and operating a product.
  • Knowledge of networking practices and fault finding.
  • Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code and optimization of DTAP environments.
  • Knowledge of SRE best practices.
  • Experience with model system infrastructure in AWS (CloudFormation/CDK is nice to have).
  • Security awareness on the level of a financial is preferred.
  • A passion for automating and implementing recurring tasks, testing and security in CI/CD systems.
  • Knowledge of how to work in an Agile environment where collaboration and continuous improvements are the foundations.
