Dateio is built on the idea that data is the key to fast and accurate decision making. Data is everywhere, and it's just a matter of starting to track it and use it to build product innovations on top of the findings. Dateio is the result of the experience of two consultants who saw an opportunity in an unexplored area - bank customers' payment data and precisely targeted marketing services built on top of it - also known by its technical name - Card-Linked Marketing. In 2013, the two of them started collaborating in the Impact HUB in Prague. Today Dateio has over 50 colleagues, proven products used by clients in the Czech Republic and Europe, and ranks among the industry leaders. With the industry still in its infancy and countless opportunities opening up, Dateio has big ambitions and many challenges and opportunities for you.

The way we utilize banking data is quite unique, and there aren't many companies in the world like us. This has allowed us to grow rapidly and gain more and more customers outside of the Czech Republic.

On the contrary, the culture here is set up to work together and it's all about team results.

I guess it's the setup of Ondra and Ivan and also the kind of people they've managed to bring into Dateio. It's a conflict-free zone here. What everybody across the company appreciates is the ability to implement things in their own way with their own ideas, their own inventiveness, and also in coordination with the whole.

Dateio Platform

Dateio originally started as a card-linked marketing platform, through which we can facilitate targeted marketing based on the purchasing behavior of the cardholder. Today, we refer to this product as the Dateio Platform.

This means that if a customer frequents a specific cafe in the city, we can target the advertising both product-wise and geolocation-wise, as the card transaction record contains all this information. Thus, in their banking app, customers don't see ads for the Christmas markets in Liberec if they're from Karlín, but they do see the breakfast menu from the cafe around the corner. This allows our partners to target people meaningfully. Additionally, cardholders are offered various rewards or cashback services, enhancing the popularity of the banking app and motivating them to use card payments.

We've been in the market for over 10 years, ranking among the best in our field, and our goal is no less than becoming the leader in Europe's card-linked marketing sector.

This ambition fuels tremendous enthusiasm within our team. We are results-driven, and each new client, campaign, and business milestone excites us. Tenacity and the desire to succeed remain strong, and we've amassed a wealth of knowledge and experience along the way. In the last few years, we've grown significantly, not just in numbers but also in maturity as a company. We might have more processes now, but we ensure they're added only to the extent that we still enjoy our work.

TapiX

TapiX is a REST API for cleansing and enriching payment data in real-time. This means that, thanks to services like TapiX, you don't see anonymous transactions on your account. Instead, we can match transactions to specific merchants, displaying their logos and the addresses of their branches. Originally developed as part of our Dateio Platform, we created TapiX because we realized that clients often struggled to understand their payment data.

To distinguish Dateio from competitors, we began developing our own tools. Over time, it became clear that this service had the potential to succeed as a standalone product, leading to the creation of TapiX. Our ambition and desire to succeed remain as strong as ever.

The TapiX team is relatively new and smaller than the Dateio Platform team. It features a mix of highly experienced developers, data scientists, and young professionals who joined us even during their schooling. This blend fosters a distinctly startup-like culture within the team, characterized by a passion for technology and in-depth discussions on product development.

Given our ambitions, we set high standards for our team members. We look for individuals with drive who are not afraid to challenge established procedures. Sports mentality

You can meet the Slovak triathlon champion or people who run marathons. Cyclists, runners and generally sporty people. Almost all of us cycle to work. Last year, we launched a challenge to cycle 500 km company-wide, which was successful. We love sport and because of that we have a certain healthy competitive sports mentality.

So if you play sports, you're welcome here. And we certainly don't want to eliminate non-athletes. They're welcome here too, and they certainly won't feel discriminated against. We just want to say that athletes will get along well here with us. 

Just don't take yourself too seriously

It's a more male collective, which we don't know if we can say that openly these days. And this is matched by humour and the way of communication, enhanced by the approach of Ivan and Ondra, who prefer a free approach to people rather than a directive.

No one is playing games. Everyone here doesn't care who has a more expensive shirt or a better car. What matters is how we work together and whether we treat everyone fairly. Our humour is on specific topics, so we need to be able to make fun of ourselves and not take ourselves so seriously.

At a time when a consumer's banking identity offers more accessibility, physical discount cards no longer make sense, but most transactions, even loyalty ones, will take place on bank mobile apps. We are building a product that belongs in the modern world. With us, you won't be working on outdated systems or products that have gone out of date, but on modern technology and unique fintech products. We think we offer great technology bags and challenges that people will learn a lot from.

The buzz, the communication, the constant interaction

We have Teams, we have team statuses and all hands meetings, but what is most effective about Dateio is the fact that communication between people and teams is fluid in the office. The moment a campaign is launched, all teams across the company are working together on it. Operating from offices where we all sit together, the work is pretty hands-on and team efficiency is high because the colleague you need to solve a problem is an arm’s length away. It's more difficult in remote mode, but when push came to shove, we made it work effectively in an online environment too.

We started in Impact Hub in Prague, but we outgrew it. However, we didn’t move so far and you can still find us in the same building, but through the entrance from the courtyard on Štefánikova Street. We all sit in one creative space.

Building a long-term successful company

Neither Ondra nor Ivan is building Dateio with the goal of selling it and exiting. On the contrary, the vision is a long-term sustainable company that will grow steadily and be globally successful. Because only in such a mindset will everyone find their space and what they enjoy. We want to do things that will add value and be of high quality, and to do that we need a team of people who will share and fulfill our vision. The approach to a company that has long-term potential that we are gradually fulfilling is just different than in a quickly scalable project. For us, it's not just about the product, it's about the deep quality within.
